Alleging forcible acquisition of farmers' land by the Mayawati government, the BJP today said an inquiry would be ordered and the guilty put behind bars in the event of the party coming to power in Uttar Pradesh in the 2012 assembly election.

"Within three days of assuming office, a commission will be set up to probe the land acquisition cases and those found guilty will be jailed," party veteran Rajnath Singh said.

Flagging off party's "Kisan Bachao Desh Bachao Yatra" in Kuberpur village here, he alleged the BSP government in the state was forcibly acquiring farmers' land.

"As part of an international conspiracy, they want to keep farmers as beggars instead of producers," the former BJP president said.

"If the situation remains the same, nearly 40 crore people in the country will be displaced by 2015," he said.

Turning to the Congress, Singh said the party which had ruled the country for most of the years since independence was responsible for the prevailing poor state of affairs.

He alleged over Rs25 lakh crore hard-earned money of the people was stashed in foreign banks as black money.

"If the BJP comes to power at the Centre, the money will be brought back within a couple of months."

On a man showing a shoe to Congress leader Janardan Dwiwedi, he said this was not the right way but the incident reflected the anger among the people.
