Metro commuters had to face some hardship today as BJP workers organised demonstrations at some stations as part of the Bharat bandh to protest price rise.

Protests were witnessed at Rajiv Chowk, Karol Bagh, Tilak Nagar, Janakpuri East, Uttam Nagar, Patel Nagar and Tagore Garden stations.

Waving BJP flags, a large number of BJP workers entered the Rajiv Chowk metro station this morning and shouted slogans and attempted to disrupt the services.

In Patel Nagar, the agitators managed to lock the gates of the station preventing commuters from entering the facility. However, the gates were opened by police who dispersed the protestors.

Delhi Metro officials said the services were not hit by the bandh but commuters claimed the trains took more than usual time to reach the destinations.

"It took about 90 minutes to reach Pragati Maidan from Dwarka Sector 13. Normally it takes around an hour," Archana Dwivedi, a lawyer, said.

Another commuter Krishna Prasad said that the train was halted at Subhash Nagar station for about 15 minutes.
