Five passengers injured in Bihar train derailment

Five passengers were injured when eight coaches and an engine of 3241 Banka-Rajendra Nagar Inter-City train derailed at Fatuha station on Jhajha-Patna section of Danapur division under East-Central Railway.

Five passengers were injured when eight coaches and an engine of 3241 Banka-Rajendra Nagar Inter-City train derailed at Fatuha station on Jhajha-Patna section of Danapur division under East-Central Railway (ECR), a railway official said.

All the passengers were identified as Kesari Devi, Dev Nandan Mahto, Ajay Kumar, Naresh Paswan and Sunita Devi who were undergoing treatment at Danapur railway hospital and PMCH, ECR Public Relation Officer, Dilip Kumar said.

Danapur DRM Gyan Prakash and chief safety officer Deepak Chabra reached the accident site.

Efforts were underway to restore traffic on Jhajha-Patel rail section which was disrupted due to the derailment.

The railway authorities have cancelled seven trains following the derailment.

The cancelled trains are : 3416 Patna-Malda Inter-city, 8623 Rajendranagar-Hatia Express, 3402 Bhagalpur-Danapur Inter-city, 3401 Danapur-Bhagalpur inter-city, 3242 Rajendranagar-Banka Inter-city, 3248 Rajendranagar-NJP and 3330 Patna-Dhanbad Ganga-Damodar Express, Kumar said.
