Bangladesh to resist subversive activities by Ulfa

Recalling the recent crackdown against militants and the arrest of a Ulfa leader in Bangladesh, State minister for home Shamsul Haq Tuku said militants have no option than being arrested.

Bangladesh today said it has directed its law emforcement agencies to keep a vigil to resist any kind of "subversive" activities by north-east insurgent group Ulfa in that country.

State minister for home Shamsul Haq Tuku said the recent activities by the United Liberation Front of Asom was "part of a conspiracy" against the country and the government will uproot them.

Law enforcement agencies have been asked to resist "any kind of subversive" activities by the Ulfa, local media quoted the minister as saying. India has been alleging that Ulfa and other north-east militant groups were using Bangladeshi soil to carry out activities against the country.
