Babhli case: TDP chief Naidu shifted to Aurangabad

The TDP chief, whose judicial custody has been extended till July 26 after he refused to accept bail yesterday, will be lodged in Aurangabad's Harsul jail.

Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu along with his supporters was today forcibly shifted to Aurangabad from here amid tight security. 

Police cane-charged some TDP activists, who tried to prevent the move.

He was taken in a private bus accompanied by four police vans with State Reserve Police (SRP) personnel in it around 1000 hrs.

The TDP chief, whose judicial custody has been extended till July 26 after he refused to accept bail yesterday, will be lodged in Aurangabad's Harsul jail. Naidu was earlier stopped from visiting the controversial Babhli barrage site by Maharashtra government.

Security has been beefed up in the Harsur jail premises and around 10 police inspectors, 26 police sub-inspectors and 60 policemen have been deployed there.

Police also seized mobile SIM cards of several party MPs and MLAs. 

Security has also been stepped up at Parbhani, Hingoli and Jalna districts between Dharmabad and Aurangabad.
