Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Takar Marde has urged the personnel of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to be more vigil along the Indo-China border.

"The frequent statements of Chinese government claiming Arunachal as their integral part sound us to be more alert," Marde said while attending the passing out parade and attestation ceremony of the second batch of 419 ITBP jawans at Kimin yesterday, an official communique said here today.

He said the state government would defeat any designs of divisive forces with all its might and sought all possible help from the ITBP, in its fight against underground elements such as ULFA and NSCN.

While wishing the jawans, the minister urged them to be sincere and show confidence on their duty in order to help the civilians foremost.

"You are well-trained and you should know how to help the civilians and handle them at the need of time," he felt.

While appreciating the ITBP for its global service like giving protection to the Border Roads Organization in Afghanistan for building highways there and for carrying out social services under its civic action programme, he called for hosting of more medical camps in far-flung villages for the cause of rural masses.

Marde earlier inspected a guard of honour presented by the new recruits and took salute at the march past by the jawans.
