Army jawan shot dead in south Kashmir

An army jawan was shot dead by militants at his house in Pulwama district of south Kashmir today, official sources said.

Mehrajuddin Ganai, posted with the Territorial Army, was fired upon by militants from point blank range after they intruded into his house in the wee hours at village Chandigam, 48km from Srinagar, the sources said.

The jawan died on the spot, they said.

Police have registered a case and started investigations, the sources added.
