To protest against the brutal murder of Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Narendra Kumar in Madhya Pradesh, veteran Gandhian Anna Hazare, would be staging a daylong protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on March 18.

This was revealed to DNA by Hazare’s personal assistant, Suresh Pathare on Tuesday.

“Anna would also be demanding the enactment of a strong law to protect whistle blowers,” he said.

Kumar was allegedly mowed down by a tractor trailer in Morena, while he was trying to stop it as it was illegally carrying sand.

This would be the first public protest Hazare would be participating in after the failure of his protest for a strong Jan Lokpal in Mumbai.

Hazare was also admitted to hospital for 7 days for treatment in December. Doctors had advised him not to undertake any protests or fasts for a month.

Following the advice of his doctors, Hazare had undertaken treatment at a naturopathy centre in Bangalore.

A law on whistle blowers has been a long-standing demand of Hazare and other activists.

However, no decision has been taken about it yet by the central government.
