Hospitals in the city have decided to mix business and pleasure so as to participate in the fun and excitement brought by the World Cup final on Saturday.

From altering their usual dress code, to setting up an LCD screen for patients, their relatives and staffers, the public and private healthcare providers have novel plans to join in the enjoyment.
The grave looking hospitals will look festive and try to recreate the ambience of the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai within their premises. The entire Apollo team, including medicos and para-medics, are to dress in World Cup theme T-shirts.

Dr Praful Pawar, CEO of Apollo Hospitals, said, "For the final match between India and Sri Lanka, we are planning a blue theme. From top management to staff, everyone is to wear blue." To add to the merriment, the hospital has plans to show the match in their 250-capacity auditorium, offering popcorn and other snacks to viewers. The big screen is for patients' relatives and staff.

The Sterling Hospital team is not to be left behind. Dr Chandramauli Raval from Sterling Hospital said, "We plan to add a cricket themed accessory, be it a cap or a blue scarf to display participation and support to the Indian cricket team on Saturday. Adding fun to hardwork is the spirit we learn from this game." Sterling Hospital also plans to set up an LCD screen for about 60 viewers.

Beating the private sector, city's biggest public sector hospital Civil has also joined the World Cup bandwagon. The hospital management plans to set up a huge LCD screen.

Dr M M Prabhakar, superintendent of Civil Hospital said, "We have hosted a small-scale celebration to watch the finals of the World Cup on Saturday within the premises. We have set up a big LCD screen in the conference hall on the ground floor for patients' relatives, doctors and staff. We are also going to show the match in each ward for patients."
