The Ahmedabad crime branch on Wednesday produced Hafiz Hussain alias Adnan Razuddin Mullah, one of the accused in Ahmedabad blasts case and main operative of the Karnataka unit of SIMI, in the court of metropolitan magistrate, GM Patel.

The crime branch had earlier brought Adnan from Chindwada jail in Madhya Pradesh on transfer warrant. Sources said that Adnan, who was also an accused in the case of recovery of bombs from Kalol, is a member of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and had played a crucial role in organising a camp at Waghmon in Kerala in December 2007.

Sources said that Adnan had, among other things, arranged vehicles and accommodation facility for SIMI members, who had come for participating in Waghmon camp.  Adnan was the main operative of SIMI in Karnataka when the camp was organised. He also knows PA Shibli alias Shibli Abdul Karim, who belongs to Erattupetta in Kerala. Shibli is a trained computer engineer while Adnan is a third-year student of B.Tech from IGNOU.

The duo had played a crucial role in conducting the camp. At the camp, participants were taught adventure sports like mountaineering, swimming, rock climbing, map reading, motorcycle racing and pistol firing. Adnan had hired bikes on rent, which were used in the training. Moreover, for picking and dropping Simi activists, who had come to participate at the camp, Adnan had arranged for four-wheelers.

SIMI activists from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and other states had attended the camp. The camp was organised by SIMI leader, Safdar Nagori, who was arrested in March 2008 in Madhya Pradesh.
