The municipal corporation of Delhi (MCD) today got a building in east Delhi's Laxmi Nagar area vacated and sealed following complaints that it has developed cracks.

The building was in Vikas Marg, near the Lalita Park area where a building collapse killed 70 people on the night of November 15.

MCD teams went to the spot and got the building vacated after receiving the complaints and the cracks appeared to be old, the civic body said in a statement.

"A thorough survey of the entire building was carried out by the MCD team. There appeared to be no imminent danger to the building. However, the building has been kept under technical observation. Glass and paper strips have been placed on the existing cracks which appeared to be old," it said.

It is being monitored if there is any variation in width of the cracks, officials said adding, the final position with regard to stability of the building would be established in a few days.

MCD will take appropriate action after submission of the final report based on examination of technical inputs.
