Advance leadership training for IPS officers begins in Hyderabad

The eight week programme, which is the first of its kind, is being conducted by the University of Cambridge in collaboration with the OP Jindal Global University.

With a view to prepare IPS officers for the next level of advanced leadership, a training programme for nearly 120 officers of the rank of DIG and IG of police got underway at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy here today.
 
The eight week programme, which is the first of its kind, is being conducted by the University of Cambridge in collaboration with the OP Jindal Global University. The first six weeks of the training programme will be held at the National Police Academy here followed by two weeks at the University of Cambridge, a press release issued here said.
 
NPA director Rajiv Mathur announced the University of Cambridge's decision to award two-years scholarship to two best participants of this training programme.
 
Maharashtra director general of police D Sivanandan, in his inaugural address, urged senior police officers to combine transformational leadership and transactional leadership.
 
He asked the trainees to inculcate, among other values, vision, passion, courage, character, self-belief, competence and discipline.
 
University of Cambridge, police executive programme director, Lawrence Sherman said the training programme will cover all advance and best practices in policing in the world with a view to suppport democracy and rule of law based societies.
