Additional charge sheet filed in Bangalore serial blast

Police have named suspected terrorist Abdul Nasar Madani as one of the accused in the 2008 serial blasts here that claimed the life of a woman.

Police yesterday had filed an additional charge sheet against six of the accused involved in the July 25 low intensity serial explosions, taking total number of people issued charge sheets so far to 32.

The six against whom additional charge sheets have been filed are Abdul Nasar Madani, Shohib alias Faizal, Sarfuddin, Thajuddin, P B Saabeer(all the five residents of Kerala) and Abdul Khadar of Veerajapete, Kodagu, Karnataka. Of the six, four are in judicial custody, police said today.

The charge sheets were filed before the first ACMM Bangalore. Along with additional charge sheet, additional evidence has also been submitted to the court in respect of T Naseer alias Nasir and Safaz.

Nine cases were registered in connection with the serial blasts at different places in Bangalore. These cases are being investigated by central crime branch, Bangalore city.

Meanwhile, in Kerala, PDP leader Madani said he would take legal steps to prove his 'innocence' in the case.

Madani, who was at his headquarters at Anwarassery near Kollam, said so far he had not received any official communication from police on his being issued charge sheet. 

"If it is true, my first priority would be legally challenge the charge," the PDP leader told Malayalam channels. 

He said he was not involved in the case and alleged there had been concerted attempts by certain quarters to implicate him in the case. 

Madani, however, admitted that he was questioned for about 15 minutes by Bangalore police last week in connection with the case.
