The state health department has lodged a complaint against three doctors, including two from Vadodara for allegedly carrying out a sex determination test.

The incident came to light after the woman on whom the test was carried out filed a complaint against her in-laws for forcing her to undergo illegal abortions four times.

The three doctors were identified as Dr Shubhada Bhinde and Dr Ajit Athle, who have clinics in Vadodara and one Dr. Ramesh Patel of Anand. Chief district health officers of Vadodara and Anand have lodged a police complaint against the three.

The sonography machines of the doctors are also being sealed by the district health authorities. According to case details, a couple of month ago one Amisha Bhatt had lodged complaint in Vastrapur police station against her husband Priyavadan, her father-in-law and mother-in-law for forcing her to undergo abortions four times, as they did not want a girl child.

The abortions were conducted while she was residing with her in-laws in Anand. Meanwhile, Amisha also wrote a letter to the health minister informing him about the doctors who carried out the sonography on her. He inturn asked the chief district health officers of Vadodara and Anand to inquire into the matter.

Following an inquiry, it was found that the accused doctors had sent the form F, which is mandatory and enlists patients who undergo sonography, to the district health department. But they hadn't mentioned Amisha's name. But Amisha had produced documents, reports and bills paid at the clinic of these doctors for sonography.
