In Gujarat, over 200 persons have been arrested for consuming alcohol on new year's eve at a farmhouse on the outskirts of the city, police said today.
Huge quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) has been seized from the Shakuntala Farmhouse in Dumas village, they said.
A new year party was organised at the farmhouse where large amount of alcohol was being consumed. Based on a tip- off, a team of over 150 policemen raided the place and arrested over 200 persons who were in an inebriated state, police said adding that a case has been registered against them.
They said that many of the women in the party had not consumed alcohol and they were not arrested. The matter is under investigation and those arrested are being interrogated.
Liquor is prohibited in Gujarat, which is the only state in the country to have this restriction.
