The impact of changing weather seems to be increasing on the health of citizens of Ahmedabad. In the last few days, Ahmedabad has witnessed rise in cases of water-borne diseases. The health report of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) indicated an increase in number of cases of jaundice and vomiting on Tuesday.

The number of jaundice cases recorded in municipal hospitals, which was just three on Monday, jumped to 13 on Tuesday. Surprisingly, in the first three days of this month, the total number of jaundice cases recorded was 20.

Similarly, vomiting cases in the city which were just 12 on Monday, soared to 34 on Tuesday, marking rise of a whopping 183%. The total number of cases recorded in the first three days of July has reached 74.

Leader of opposition Badruddin Shaikh stated that another reason for rise in number of water-borne diseases is the polluted drinking water in many of the areas. “Strict action should be taken by the civic body regarding provision of clean drinking water and repairing of main water supply lines so that the water in these lines does not get contaminated.”
