Students of Rajkot-based Kadvibai Virani Kanya Vidyalay (KVKV) attempted setting a unique record, when 1,200 pupils of the school rolled out 35,000 rotlis (chapatti) in just 15 minutes on Wednesday. The school is going to apply for getting this feat registered as a record shortly.

KVKV has tied up in advance with various charitable organisations for distribution of the rolled out rotlis to people in need. Seven organisations distributed the rotlis to beggars, in slums and at government hospitals.

“There are no records for rolling rotlis as of now. We are going to apply for the record so that it finds a mention in the Limca Book of Records based on certificates issued by the Rajkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rotary Club of Rajkot Greater and other prominent organisations,” principal of KVKV, Sonal Shah said. She also clarified that currently there was no existing record for rolling rotlis either at the world or national level. “There are no records at present. We have achieved the world record but will not be registered as it is too costly for a trust-funded school like KVKV to apply for a place in the Guinness Book. We will approach Limca Book for a national record,” Shah said.
