10 model day-schools planned for Gujarat

The tribal as well as educationally backward areas will benefit from this.

On the lines of Union government’s plan to start model schools in 85 educationally backward blocks (talukas) in the state, Gujarat government will set up 10 model day schools in tribal and educationally backward districts. It had already decided to set up such schools and made budgetary allocations in the financial year 2011-12 but the locations of the schools were not decided then.

Sources in the state education department said that the now the locations have been identified. “A total of 10 model day schools will be set up in the state out of which five will be in tribal areas.

These include Nava Falia in Garbada of Dahod district, Selamba of Sagbara taluka of Narmada district, Balchodi in Kaprada taluka of Valsad, Unai in Vansada taluka of Navsari  and Gunsada of Songadh taluka of Tapi district. The rest will be set up in non-tribal but educationally backward areas, which include Fichod of Idar taluka in Sabarkantha, Kadiyaligam of Rajula taluka in Amreli, Babara of Santalpur taluka of Patan, Vadhay of Bhuj and Suraj Deval of Chotila taluka in Surendranagar.”

The model day schools will have primary and secondary classes. “Students will be given latest educational facilities at these schools. They will also be provided food on the campus.”
