Rajya Sabha member and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh predicted that the bonhomie between the SP and the Bahujan Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh was short-lived.

He said BSP supremo Mayawati was just waiting for the March 23 Rajya Sabha elections. "If the SP is able to transfer its surplus votes to help the BSP candidate win the Rajya Sabha seat, the alliance may continue. But if that doesn't happen which is most likely the scenario, Mayawati will dump this alliance in a dustbin," he said at the Zee India Conclave. BSP sources too have said that Mayawati would assess SP support in RS polls before deciding her strategy for extending support to Kairana and Noorpur Lok Sabha seats that are also going to polls over next five months.

Singh also hit out at Naresh Agarwal for his remarks against Jaya Bachchan and said that the newly elected BJP leader has humiliated the actor-turned-politician. He, however, said such attitude draws its roots when Azam Khan had similarly targeted Jaya Prada.

"Every politician including Jaya Bachchan kept mum at that time. If Khan had been confronted, Agarwal wouldn't have dared to use such derogatory language." About his relationship with Bachchans, he said, he didn't take anything from Amitabh Bachchan. "I did not produce any film or break any deal with him. He is not well, I pray for his good health."

Talking about SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav, Amar Singh said,"I belong to Mulayam Singh Yadav era, he never fired me. As long as he grew old, there was dispute in the family, and I became the target of that.

Mulayam Singh Yadav never expelled me from the party." On being asked if he believes in making and breaking relationships in politics, the former SP leader said that this is a compliment to him. "I have the power of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh." Singh, who joined politics in 1996, brought glamour, Bollywood and network with big industrial houses to politics.
