A woman officer in the Indian Air Force allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her official quarters here this morning. The 29-year-old squadron leader Anandita Das, hailing from Kolkata, who was posted at the Jodhpur Air Force Station, was living in the officers' quarters along with her husband, also an IAF officer.
"She was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the wee hours on Wednesday. The body has been shifted to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital for postmortem," police said.
Defence spokesperson SD Goswami said a court of inquiry has been ordered in the alleged suicide of Das, who was a ground duty officer. "Police investigation is on and we will extend full cooperation to the police investigation," he added.
