In a significant development, BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday called on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at RSS headquarters in Nagpur and held discussions with him for almost three and a half hours.

Shah came calling at 3 pm and left at 6.30 pm. Prior to the meeting, Shah held closed-door discussions with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at the latter’s residence at Mahal area in Nagpur.

According to sources, RSS general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi, joint general secretary Dattatrey Hosbale and RSS Central executive member Suresh Soni were also present for the meeting. It is being told that Shah apprised RSS chief and other functionaries about BJP’s victory in assembly elections in the Northeast states.

Shah is also believed to have lauded RSS’ contribution towards national integration and the political role it played in bringing Northeast states to the mainstream.

RSS is holding its three-day meeting of Pratinidhi Sabha (highest decision-making body) at Nagpur between March 9 and 11. The Pratinidhi Sabha or House of Representatives is the highest decision making body of RSS which meets once in a year and all karyakartas or workers at Prant level participate in it.

Around 1,500 RSS workers would assemble at Nagpur next week and Amit Shah’s visit to Nagpur also assumes significance in the backdrop of this meeting.
