West Bengal: Worker dies while dismantling panel at Mamata's swearing-in venue

A worker died on Saturday while dismantling a panel at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's swearing-in ceremony venue, Red Road.

The worker has been identified as Gautam Haldar, a resident of Baruipur. He was deployed for dismantling the panels when he lost balance and fell from the height.

He was immediately rushed to the SSKM hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Other workers allege that they were asked to dismantle the structure fast so that the busy Red Road could be opened for traffic movement.

"While dismantling the temporary structure of the dais on Red Road, one of  the workers of Modern Decorator namely Goutam Haldar, aged 40 years, of Baruipur somehow fell down from the dais.

A senior official of Kolkata police said that Haldar was was declared brought dead to the hospital.
