Trinamool Congress on Saturday  slammed the Centre's decision to provide CRPF security cover to West Bengal BJP President Rahul Sinha without consulting the state government and called it 'just another example of misusing central power'.

"Giving the BJP Bengal President CRPF security is just another example of misusing central power. All this was done without consulting the state government. Bulldozing the federal structure," TMC national spokesperson and party MP Derek O'Brien said in a statement. "These actions all have clear political purpose and a negative destructive attitude. A central dictatorship is going on," he said.

Sinha has been provided CRPF security cover on the instructions of ministry of home affairs following a threat perception report by security agencies, a top official of CRPF said. "We have been directed by the MHA to provide Rahul Sinha with security cover. I cannot divulge any further details," IG (CRPF) West Bengal sector Vivek Sahay told PTI today. "I have been informed that there are central intelligence reports about threat perception following which CRPF will be providing a security cover," Sinha said.
