Thousands of goods laden trucks were stranded after truck drivers on Saturday launched a blockade on NH34 demanding security against anti-socials at Englishbazar in Malda, a police officer said.
The blockade began at Sushthani More at 9.30am after three goods laden trucks were looted last night and their drivers and helpers beaten up, the police official said.
It was later lifted after two and a half hours, the official said. Sushtani More is an important junction through which goods are transported to Bangladesh.
NH34 connects the north east.
