West Bengal: Girl accidentally shoots mother after mistaking revolver for a toy

In an unfortunate incident, a girl mistakenly fired at her mother, thinking the gun was a toy. The incident has been reported from Hooghly district in West Bengal. 

According to police, the mother gave the loaded pistol to her kid thinking it was a toy. She had recovered it from a garden outside their house. However, according to the police, it was a real gun with bullets. When the kid pulled the trigger thinking it was a toy, her mother Kakoli Jana was injured. She is currently in hospital and her situation is said to be critical. 

The incident happened at Khanakul in Arambag, on Sunday morning. The police are looking at how a loaded gun ended up in a garden. They have also detained the girl for questioning. According to the police, the girl is in a state of shock with such a sudden turn of events. 

These kind of incidents are fairly common in US, where guns are available in abundance but rarely heard in India, which has strict laws regarding procurement of guns.
