West Bengal elections 2016: EC transfers 2 police officers in poll-bound Murshidabad, Nadia

Elections in Murshidabad and Nadia in the third phase are scheduled to be held on April 21.

Two police officials in the poll-bound districts of Murshidabad and Nadia in West Bengal were transferred on Tuesday by the Election Commission (EC) following allegations by opposition parties.

As per the instructions of the EC, the officers-in-charge of Shantipur police station in Nadia and Domkal in Murshidabad have been removed after opposition parties levelled allegations against them, Officials said. Elections in these areas will be held in the third phase on April 21.

Ever since the election process has begun, the poll panel has transferred a number of officials, including a district magistrate, several superintendents of police and even Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar.
