Ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe laid the foundation stone for India’s first bullet train project on September 14, there has been a lot of talk and excitement about the train service that will operate between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

On Sunday, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, too, expressed his excitement at the project while speaking to mediapersons. While he was addressing his visits to Japan to see how bullet trains operate, he was interrupted by someone, who asked what many feel was a ridiculous question.

“Arunji,” the man began. “Bullet train ko Hindi mein kya kehte hai?” (What is a Bullet train called in Hindi?”

Jaitley looked flabbergasted with the question, but was quick to regain his composure. “Please be serious,” he snapped back at the scribe. “In a serious situation, one need to be serious and not ask frivolous questions.”

Another person interrupted. “Lekin, yeh serious savaal tha. (This was a serious question).” And that’s when the video, which was shared by ANI ended. But not before it went viral.

The 508-km National High Speed Rail Project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, (MAHSR) will reduce journey time between Ahmedabad and Mumbai to 2.07 hours from the 8 hours it takes at present. This is possible due to operating speed of 320 km/h, the highest in the world currently for a railway system on wheels.
