The nine Congress rebel MLAs including former CM Vijay Bahuguna, join BJP have joined Bharatiya Janata Party after sacked from Congress. They were not allowed to participate in the trust vote which the BJP had lost leading Harish Rawat to resurface as the state chief minister.

Following his meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi after assuming charges as Uttarakhand Chief Minister again, Harish Rawat on Thursday said the nine expelled Congress rebel were sitting in the lap the BJP with whom the Congress could have no compromise." The nine Congress rebel MLAs have sat in the BJP's lap. They went with the communal forces with whom there can be no compromise," he said in a strict message to them.

The Centre had revoked President's rule from Uttarakhand on May 11, 2016 after Rawat-led Congress proved its majority on the floor of the House.

The Congress won by a margin of 33-28 in the floor test on Tuesday. The result of the trust vote was handed over to the Supreme Court in a sealed cover yesterday along with video recording of the proceedings in the state assembly.

The decision to revoke the President's rule in Uttarakhand has created an atmosphere of jubilation in the state Congress camp. The Congress has stated it is a victory of democracy.

The Centre had imposed President's rule in the state on March 27, arguing that the Rawat government lost majority when nine rebel Congress MLAs voted against the state government's annual budget.
