Uttarakhand HC rejects 64 expelled IIT-Roorkee students' plea

Uttarakhand High Court on Wednesday  rejected the petition of 64 students challenging the decision of IIT-Roorkee to expel them for scoring less than five Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) in semester examinations.

Rejecting the petition, Justice Alok Singh, however, directed IIT-Roorkee to reconsider its decision over two students who were expelled even though they scored more than five CGPA. Out of 72 expelled students, 64 moved the high court challenging the decision of the institute, Vipul Sharma, advocate for the IIT-Roorkee said. As per the HC direction, the institute would reconsider its decision on the students who have scored more than five CGPA in semester examinations.
