Uttar Pradesh government directs administrative and police officials to take action to improve law and order

Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday directed administrative and police officials to take prompt action to improve law and order situation in the state and warned them against any laxity on this front.

Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan, who held a high-level meeting here, warned that if necessary prompt and strict action was not taken in case of any criminal incident, the official concerned would not be spared.

"The meetings of peace committees, set up in view of possibility of troubles, should be ensured so that minor incidents are not allowed to turn into major problems," the chief secretary told the officials.

"To further improve law and order, the criminal elements should be identified police station wise and a strict vigil be maintained on their activities," he said, adding, those found involved in criminal activities should be promptly taken to task. With regard to crime against women, he directed for initiating special drive so as to check such incidents in future.

The Chief Secretary directed to install cameras on the gates of girl's colleges and asked for imparting martial arts training to women for their security.

He also asked for fixing responsibility on police station incharges to ensure that criminal activities do not take place in their areas.
