Uttar Pradesh: Godman attempts to rape blind woman

A sadhu allegedly tried to rape a blind woman when she went to him to treat her blindness in Haldi area here, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place on Saturday when the 22-year-old woman had gone to sadhu Dharmdev alias Birju Baba to cure her blindness, they said. The sadhu then not only tried to rape her but also attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon, police said.

The accused was later arrested and the matter is being investigated, they said.
