Uttar Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday hailed the elevation of Amit Shah as the party's president and said that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, the state has got yet another strong representation at the top level.
BJP's state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that with leaders like Modi, Rajnath and Shah, UP has once again sealed its place in the national politics.
"We extend our heartiest congratulations to Amit Shah on being nominated as BJP president. The party has the privilege that its top leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP president Amit Shah have UP connection," BJP's state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.
Modi and Rajnath represent Varanasi and Lucknow constituencies in Lok Sabha respectively, while Shah was UP election in-charge of BJP.
Under the leadership of Shah, the party won 73 out of 80 seats in the state in the Lok Sabha polls. "He is an able strategist with strong organisational abilities," Pathak said.
"Workers in UP are very enthusiastic with Shah's appointment as the national president. We are confident of winning the state Assembly polls and form the government under the leadership of our leaders," Pathak said.
