Bulandshahr violence: UP Police pays emotional tribute to Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh

Violence broke out on Monday over alleged illegal slaughter of cattle, leaving a police inspector and a youth dead as a mob went on a rampage here torching a police post and clashed with police, which opened fire to control the situation, officials said.

Violence broke out on Monday over alleged illegal slaughter of cattle, leaving a police inspector and a youth dead as a mob went on a rampage here torching a police post and clashed with police, which opened fire to control the situation, officials said.

Additional Director General of Meerut zone Prashant Kumar said the protesters from Mahaw village and nearby areas pelted stones on the police and indulged in arson setting several vehicles and the Chingarwathi Police Chowki on fire. The incident took place at Chingravati area of Sinay Kotwali in Bulandsahr.

Zee Media was first to learn the officer who was heinously killed was Subodh Kumar Singh.  Incidentally, inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was the investigation officer in the Mohammad Akhlaq lynching case and was instrumental in getting the meat samples to the lab on time.

Subodh Kumar Singh was transferred  to Varanasi in the middle of the investigation

The post mortem has confirmed that the late Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was shot dead. The bullet entered his left eyebrow and is lodged inside his skull. A video has also gone viral showing the inspector being besieged by a mob, before gun shots could be heard. 

The UP Police’s twitter handle: “Inspector Subodh kumar singh sacrificed his life to uphold law & order in the district. With his demise, we have lost one of our finest officers who will always be alive in our hearts as our hero. Our condolences for his family members & prayers for the noble soul.”

 

ADG Law and Order Anand Kumar told media persons: “In answer to the query raised by some, it is clarified that Subodh Kumar Singh was the IO of the Akhlaq lynching case, Dadri  from 28th Sept 2015 till 9th Nov 2015. Charge sheet was filled in the case by a different Investigating Officer in March 2016.”

UP CM expresses grief 

 

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Monday expressed grief over the deaths in violence in Bulandshahr and sought a probe report into the incident within two days, according to an official statement.

The statement said Adityanath has directed Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) S B Shiradkar to immediately reach the spot, and submit a probe report, containing reasons behind the violence and details about the guilty, within two days.

"The chief minister said as soon as the probe report is obtained, a decision will be taken by the state government to provide financial assistance to the affected persons and initiate action against the guilty," it said.

Adityanath also directed the officials of the police and district administration to maintain peace, the statement said.

Meanwhile, Mrityunjay Kumar, the media advisor to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister told PTI, "The Chief Minister was in constant touch with the senior officials including the DGP over the Bulandshahr incident, while he was campaigning in Rajasthan." "As soon as, he came to know about the incident, he spoke to the DGP, and directed the ADG (intelligence) to reach the spot immediately." Adityanath addressed election rallies at Bhiilwara in Rajasthan on Monday.
