Unlock 5.0 school reopening guidelines: Big announcement by government, says cannot leave everything to parents

The Union Ministry of Education has issued guidelines to reopen schools during the Unlock 5.0 phase on October 5. As per the Center's guidelines, schools and coaching institutes can be opened in a phased manner; However, the decision to open them rests with the states and union territories.

School in Uttarakhand reopens on October 15

A decision is yet to be taken on opening schools in Uttarakhand in a phased manner. The school management cannot blame the parents and hold them entirely responsible. The responsibility will be on the schools respectively.

State Spokesperson and Cabinet Minister Madan Kaushik said that schools would not be responsible for controlling the spread of COVID-19 on patrons. He said that neither the school management nor the district education department could escape their responsibility.

"Along with the schools, the authorities will also be held responsible for the safety of the children. Care will be taken by the schools to protect the children and maintain social distance," he said.

School in Delhi-NCR closed till October 31

The Delhi government has closed the schools till October 31 because of the coronavirus epidemic, despite the Center allowing the schools to reopen from October 15.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), some schools have re-entered voluntarily to get educational guidance for students from 9 to 12. The NCR includes the entire Delhi and some districts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

Punjab schools to reopen on October 15

The Punjab government has issued new guidelines for the reopening of schools from October 15. As per the latest notification issued by the Punjab government, initially, only classes 9 to 12 will be allowed, and no more than 20 students per section will be allowed.

On October 3, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced more activities in areas outside the control zone and issued guidelines to this effect. The new rules are based on the states' feedback and union territories and extensive consultation with the concerned central ministries and departments.

Since the new guidelines for Unlock 5.0 apply from October 1, many services start from October 15. Services from schools, colleges, and coaching institutes to cinema halls have been allowed to resume October 15.
