Two-leaves symbol case: AIADMK delegation to meet EC officials today

The Election commission on Thursday made it clear that the hearing on the two-leaves symbol case of  All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) would take place on October 6 as scheduled and no additional time would be granted to any party. Following this, The AIADMK  delegation will meet Election Commission (EC) officials today (Friday), to submit documents regarding two-leaves symbol case.

The Election Commission on Thursday had rejected sidelined AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran’s plea to defer hearing on symbol case. Dhinakaran had filed a plea seeking 15 days additional time to submit affidavits in the party symbol dispute case.

In a general council meeting on September 12, the merged faction had passed a resolution stating that the AIADMK will be a unified faction and shall retrieve the two leaves symbol and the AIADMK name.

The meeting also declared the jailed party general secretary V.K. Sasikala as expelled from the party, and also TTV Dhinakaran as deputy general secretary of AIADMK.

On September 14, representatives of Dinakaran had approached the EC urging it to declare as the general council meeting invalid.
