In a bizarre case of triple talaq followed by Nikkah halala, a Muslim in Bareilly was given triple talaq twice and was forced to sleep with her father-in-law to facilitate her remarriage to her first husband. But Shahbina’s ordeal did not end here. She was pronounced triple talaq again by her husband after remarriage and was asked to sleep with her brother-in-law in order to consummate her marriage.

“Enough is enough,” said a defiant Shahbina and refused to sleep with her husband’s younger brother to remarry her husband again after facing triple talaq again.

Irked by her defiance and rebellion, she was thrown out of the house by her husband and his family members for refusing to sleep with her brother-in-law for another Nikah Halala.

She then approached Nida Khan, founder of Aala Hazrat Helping Society to narrate her story. She appeared before the media in Bareilly and narrated her ordeal and traumatic experience of facing triple talaq and halala with her own father-in-law.

Soon after this, Shahbina and Nida Khan, who was ‘ousted’ from Islam by a Deband fatwa, received death threats.

They have lodged an FIR against five persons. The SP City Abhinandan Singh confirmed that a case has been lodged and investigations were on to nab those who issued the death threats to the two women.

While a bill is pending is pending in the Rajya Sabha on triple talaq, hearing is on in Supreme Court over practice of Halala. In Bareilly alone, as many as 35 cases of triple talaq and Halala were reported in the past few months by victims.

Nidha Khan said that her organization will file a fresh case in the Supreme Court to club cases of these victims who came forward to raise their voice against the social evils.
