Treta Yuga Diwali was recreated in Kal Yuga at Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama, by the Yogi Adityanah government on the eve of the festival of lights with a magnificent record-breaking lighting of 1.71 lakh earthen diyas (lights) at the Saryu Ghat to find a place in the Guinness Books of World Records.

Amid traditional Vedic rituals, chanting of mantras and renting of Jai Sri Ram slogans, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lit  the first diya followed by Governor Ram Naik, Union ministers K.J. Alphons, Dr Mahesh Sharma, UP cabinet members and sadhus and saints, spearheading building of Ram temple movement in Ayodhya.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Adityanath said that the event was beginning of Ram Rajya in Uttar Pradesh. “For the BJP, Ram Rajya means ensuring bread and houses to the poor. The Modi government at the Centre and my government in Uttar Pradesh is working in that direction only. Ram Rajya will be established sooner than expected,” he announced amid thunderous applause.

“Ayodhya has showed the path of humanity to the world and gave Diwali but why it is still known more for negative and wrong reasons. My government has tried to recreate Treta Yuga by organizing this event after a hundred thousand years to take Ayodhya and Uttar Pradesh on the path of development and welfare of people which were neglected by previous regimes,” he added.

Earlier, artistes playing the role of Lord Ram, Laxman and Sita arrived in Ayodhya on a state government owned chopper, recreated as Pushpak Vimaan of Treta Yuga. They were welcomed by the Chief Minister and Governor at Ram Katha Park. Yogi Adityanath put vermilion on the forehead of Lord Ram to mark his coronation on the throne of Ayodhya after 14 years of ‘vanvaas’ and killing on Ravana.

A three-km-long Shobha Yatra was taken out in Ayodhya comprising 11 ‘raths’ (chariots). It went through 11 welcome gates specially decorated with hundreds of tonnes of flowers. Helicopters rained flowers from the sky on route to Shobha Yatra. About 8,000 temples and each and every building in Ayodhya were decorated with special LED lights to give special effect.

The Chief Minister also launched development projects worth Rs 135 crores in Ayodhya. The funds were sanctioned by the Centre. “It is the first phase of development of this historic town. The temple will regain its historic part after the completion of three more phases,” announced Yogi Adityanath.

“I am happy to be in Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Ram, for the first time. The Centre will provide any amount of fund to develop this historic city,” said Union Tourism minister K.J. Alphons.

“The beginning has been made today. The dream of Ram Rajya would be realized soon under Modiji and Yogiji government,” announced Union Culture Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma.

The mega event also marked the beginning of Saryu Aarti. Ram Katha was created through a laser beam show which will continue round the year. “I will invite artistes from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and other countries to organize a special show soon,” said the Chief Minister.

Record-breaking Ayodhya Deepotsva was the star attraction of the gala event in Ayodhya. About 2,000 students lighted 1.71 lakh diyas, equal to the population of the temple town, to enter its name into the Guinness Books of World Records. About 14,000 litres of sesame oil was used to light up these diyas which created a mesmerizing scene at the Saryu ghat.
