Four days after former Chief Minister Mayawati vacated her official bungalow — 13-Mall Avenue, the Yogi Adityanath government has finally come up with a plan to counter her ‘Dalit twist’ to her official residence.

In compliance with the Supreme Court order, BSP Supremo Mayawati had vacated her bungalow on June 2. But a day before, she had put a board “Manyawar Kanshi Ram Yaadgar Vishram Sthal” declaring her official residence as a Guest House in memory of BSP founder and Dalit ideologue late Kanshi Ram.

To counter ‘Bungalow mess’ she left behind, the state government has directed the Estate department to bifurcate 13-A Mall Avenue in two parts – one housing the Guest House  and another in which Maywati claimed to be living.

Although the Estate department records belied BSP chief Mayawati’s claims that 13-A Mall Avenue was ever allotted to a Guest House in the memory of Late Kanshi Ram by way of a Cabinet decision in 2011, but the Yogi Adityanath government did not want to give her any chance to kick up a row on Dalit icon’s name for reaping political mileage.

“We have decided to separate the portion where the previous allottee (read Mayawati) was living with the portion housing the Guest House. The process has begun and it will be separated in two parts shortly. Though the government has yet to decide but the Guest House is likely to be used for providing accommodation to visiting dignitaries and VVIPs while the government can allot the other portion to anyone,” stated Yogesh Shukla, the Estate Officer.

He said that four guards of the department have been posted at 13-A Mall Avenue and the department has written a letter to the SSP Lucknow for providing police personnel for the round clock security of the bungalow.

The Estate officer also claimed that former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has not yet completed the paper formalities for surrender  by handing over keys of his official residence — 4 Vikramditya Marg to the department and obtaining a no dues certificate.

He said that the department has turned down the request of family members of ailing former Chief Minister ND Tiwari seeking one year time to vacate 1-Mall Avenue Bungalow. “We have sought legal opinion on the issue of getting it vacated in compliance with the Supreme Court order,” said Shukla.

The Estate department has also served final notice to a senior Congress leader Dr Ammar Rizvi to vacate his Gautampalli residence, which he had got allotted in the name of an NGO run by him and his family. “If he did not vacate it by Thursday, we will start the process to get it vacated after the deadline” said the Estate Officer.
