TMC MP and actor Tapas Pal arrested by CBI, Mamata lashes out at Centre

Banerjee dared the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to arrest her and all her MPs and MLAs. “Modi Babu, arrest me and all my MPs and MLAs if you want. Political vendetta has reached a new low. I will not be surprised if they arrest all our MPs. You don’t need to summon us. We are ready. But we cannot be deterred,” said Banerjee, adding, “This arrest is a direction instruction coming from the Prime Minister’s and BJP office.”

“If an actor does a programme on a channel how can he be blamed? Who gave permission for the channel? Even Amitabh ji is promoting a state. Many filmstars and cricketers promoted Sahara. Was Centre sleeping?” she posed a question to the centre while reacting to Pal’s arrest.

She even took a dig at the BJP leaders and claimed that they too are linked with chit funds. “BJP is connected to Pearl group chit fund scam worth Rs 50000 Crore. Babul Supriyo and Rupa Ganguly also were associated with Rose Valley. They should be arrested too,” Banerjee said.

On the other hand, opposition parties welcomed the arrest of Tapas Pal.  “We welcome this arrest. This is just the tip of the ice-berg. This is the revelation of corruption that Mamata Banerjee’s party has been involved in. The other leaders also need to be questioned including Mamata Banerjee. Enforcement Directorate and CBI should seize the property of Rose Valley and sell it off and pay back the money to poor investors,” said CPI(M) leader Md.Salim. The Leader of Opposition in West Bengal assembly, Abdul Mannan echoed the same and said that his party, Congress welcomed the arrest.
