Three Trinamool Congress workers have been arrested in the Kanthi gang-rape case where the wife of a CPIM worker was gang-raped, paraded naked and then hanged to death in East Midnapore district of West Bengal. The three Trinamool Congress workers are Swapan Jana, Chandan Jana and Maniklal Giri.

The three workers were Swapan Jana, Chandan Jana and Maniklal Giri, and will be produced at Kanthi court today. The husband of the deceased had filed a complaint against 12 men, though nine of them are still absconding.

The dead woman's husband is an active CPIM worker, and had not been able to return to his own village for last three years allegedly due to the atrocities of the TMC workers.

A local news channel reported that on Sunday night, a group of people entered her house and asked her to pay Rs 12 lakh which they claimed would be a “compensation” as her husband is a CPIM worker. Since she couldn't give the money, she was first gang-raped and then paraded naked and finally killed according to complaint lost by family members.
