Three Kanwariya pilgrims killed, eight injured in UP

Three kanwariya pilgrims were killed and eight were injured in two separate road accidents in the district, police said on Sunday. 

In the first incident, some persons from Leekanpur village in Amroha District were going to Haridwar on Saturday night in an SUV when their vehicle dashed against a fallen tree and overturned on the Chandpur-Bijnor road.

Two pilgrims, Jagdish (35) and Omvati (40) were killed on the spot, while Karan Singh, Puran Chand, Tara, Sonu, Pinki and Golu, were seriously injured, police said. After reaching the accident site, police admitted the injured to the District Hospital.

In another accident, Kanwariya pilgrims, residents of Ahirpur village were returning from Haridwar when an unidentified vehicle hit them from behind in Najibabad area, police said. One of the pilgrims, Rajpal died on the spot, while Tikam and Anuj were injured. They were all admitted to the hospital, they added.
