Class 10 and 12 results of ICSE examinations will be declared on May 6, 2016, at 3 pm. Over 1.6 lakh candidates appeared for the exams which started on February 26 and ended on March 30.

Result for the year 2015 was declared on May 18. The Council For The Indian School Certificate Examination was able to bring the date of result announcement forward because of new technology developed by Orion Indian Systems Pvt Ltd.

Live Ink Character Recognition was used by the Council examiners to evaluate the answer scripts. "LICR is a technology which incorporates a re-purposed digital pen and tablet used by examiners to evaluate answer scripts and help publish results in a shorter time," chief executive and secretary of CISCE Gerry had told media when the system was first introduced in 2015.

The examiners used regular pens to evaluate the scripts, but a digital pen to fill the slots on top of the sheets which contains the summary of marks obtained by the student.

Then the examiner clicks a check mark on the tab to verify the input.

The LICR scanners then sent the scripts to Council's system via cloud computing. This is how the marks for each question scored by the student will be saved in the system. This saved time spent manually totaling and eliminated manual rubric application errors.

CISCE is the first exam board to introduce the system. According to a statement released by the Council, this will give their students a head start while seeking admission in institutes for higher studies.
