There was widespread speculation as to whether Karti Chidambaram would be contesting in the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls this year. While some Congress party functionaries said he would, there were others who said he wouldn't.

Now, sources have disclosed to dna that Karti Chidambaram has, in fact, not even sought a ticket from the Congress party. Said the source, "Karti did not seek a ticket from the Congress and he is not going to be contesting the polls this time around."

The Congress has joined hands with the DMK for the upcoming elections and has been allocated 41 seats by the latter. On Sunday, Karti's father, former Union Finance Minister and senior Congress leader, P Chidambaram, was in Pudukottai to open the new party office. He told the media that the Congress was not happy with the number of seats allocated by the DMK nor the constituencies.

The list of Congress candidates who will be contesting in the polls this year is expected to be released on Tuesday.
