Amid ongoing power struggle between VK Sasikala and O Panneerselvam camps in the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Madurai (South) MLA SS Saravanan, who has joined the caretaker chief minister's faction, claimed that the MLAs at the Koovathur resort were being traumatised.

According to The Hindu's reportSaravanan said that MLAs were emotionally and physically traumatised. “We were isolated in one place and were affected emotionally. But we were attending to phone calls and active on social media backing OPS,” he added.

He also said that on Wednesday last, MLAs were herded on buses and taken to the Chennai airport to be flown to Delhi for parading before Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao. However, the plan changed upon learning that the Governor was coming to Chennai.

“At the resort, we were not supplied with liquor or women as claimed in some media reports. We had a phone on which many people from our respective constituencies contacted us," he added.

On Monday, AIADMK) general secretary Sasikala said she would be staying with her party MLAs in order to show that they were not being held captive against their wishes as alleged by her rival and acting Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.

"They are filing petitions in court saying that MLAs are missing. What they are trying to do is create an image that all these MLAs are being held against their will. That's why I came here, to stay overnight, to show that we are all of one mind," She said.

"Panneerselvam has been saying that I have caged these MLAs. Are they animals to be caged? Look how free they are, everyone is happy and are united as a family," she added.

With the arrival of Saravanan, the number of MLAs in the Chief Minister's camp rose to eight (including Panneerselvam), even as 12 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs backed him.
