Umar Khan’s body was handed over to his relatives after post-mortem on Wednesday evening. Former Congress legislator Zahida Khan was also present during the time and has claimed that a strategy will be made after burial of the deceased in his ancestral village.

However, some organisations have demanded monetary compensation and a government job to next of kin of the victim. PUCL in a statement released on Wednesday alleged that the police have tried to cover up another case of cow vigilantism by presenting the entire incident as a fight between two criminal groups.
It also alleged that the government has failed to provide security to dairy farmers and given the cow vigilantes a free hand.
‘Crime rate down’...
Home minister Gulab Chand Kataria on Wednesday claimed that the crime rate in the state has come down. He said that the police department would corroborate with IT students to check cyber crime. On the issue of the religious freedom bill, he said the bill was passed by the BJP government but remained with the then governor. After some amendments, the bill was again sent to the governor.

Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot on Wednesday accused the BJP-led governments in his state and Gujarat of shying away from their responsibility to take action against cow vigilantes and said such elements were now terrorising the people. Speaking about killing of Umar Khan allegedly by cow vigilantes, Pilot said that CM Raje was in that district when the incident took place.
