Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is indulging in misinformation campaign by criticising BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of giving special powers to Governor in Hyderabad, BJP's state unit president G Kishan Reddy alleged here today.

Reddy was reacting to the Chief Minister's reported comments, describing Modi as "fascist" and vowing to mobilise the support of other Chief Ministers against the Union Home Ministry's directive to the Telangana government regarding the special powers to Governor in Hyderabad. Reddy asserted that the Centre's directive was sent as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

"If he (Chandrasekhar Rao) seeks to make any amendments (to the AP Reorganisation Act), he can go to Delhi and meet Prime Minister. If the special powers to Governor are to be removed, then it has to be done in Parliament. None can do anything about it," the BJP leader said.

He said he would also write to all the Chief Ministers in the country regarding Rao's proposed campaign.

"Unfortunately, the Telangana CM and his party is spreading false information and wrongly accusing the Prime Minister in the most derogatory manner and the Union Government as "fascist", which is unwarranted and highly unbecoming of someone occupying a responsible Constitutional position as the Chief Minister," Reddy said in the letter addressed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. The copies of the letter were distributed to the media.

Noting that separate Telangana would not have been possible without BJP's support, Reddy said Rao was a MP when the AP Reorganisation Act was passed.

Members in Lok Sabha from Telangana yesterday strongly opposed the Central directive to the state government giving the Governor special powers to ensure law and order in Hyderabad, but Home Minister Rajnath Singh denied any violation of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
