Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik who is known for his controversial statements has done it again. He has indirectly compared slain journalist Gauri Lankesh to a dog on Sunday. Incidentally his organisation is under serious scrutiny , since the suspected shooter of Lankesh, Parashuram Waghmare, was an active member of the Hindutva outfit, according to police.

Indirectly referring to the death of rationalists like Govind Pansare, Narendra Dabholkar, MM Kalburgi murders, Pramod Muthalik said, " Two murders took place in Karnataka and two in Maharashtra in Congress rule. No one questioned Congress govt failure. Instead, they are asking why is PM Modi silent and not speaking on Gauri Lankesh’s death. Is Modi responsible even if any dog dies in Karnataka?", he was quoted by ANI. However, later Muthalik said that he is not making a direct comparison between a dog and Gauri Lankesh.

Muthalik was speaking in an interactive session in Bengaluru where he flatly denied Sri Ram Sene having any role in the death of Gauri Lankesh. However, the police is looking to question Rakesh Math, the Vijayapura district president of Sri Ram Sene, regarding his possible involvement in the brutal murder that took place on September 5 last year.

Earlier too Pramod Muthalik had distanced himself and his organisation from Waghmare and the killing of Lankesh and other rationalists. Lankesh was shot dead in front of her residence here on September 5 last year by motorbike-borne assailants. "There is no connection between Sri Ram Sene and Waghmare. He is neither our member nor our worker. This I say very clearly," Muthalik said.
The Sene chief said when the Pakistani flag hoisting issue surfaced, it was said that Waghmare was a member of Sri Ram Sene. However, he had proved that Waghmare was not a member of Sri Ram Sene but of RSS, he claimed. "I had shared his pictures sporting RSS uniform. I had said at that time that he is an RSS worker and not of Sri Ram Sene," Muthalik told PTI.

The family of Lankesh has expressed satisfaction over the progress made by the SIT, saying the probe was moving in the right direction and they will get justice.
