Special website launched for Narendra Modi's community welcome during US visit

A month head of Narendra Modi's maiden visit to United States (US), the Indian American Community Foundation (IACF) has planned a community reception to welcome him. 

The reception which is supposed to take place at the Madison Square Garden on September 28, 2014 will witness 20,000 people in attendance to listen to Narendra Modi's address. 

The costs of the event are supposed to be covered with the help of contributions from the general public says the website pmvisit.org which has been specially created for the event. Its main aim is to take suggestions from the people about the event and ask for funds by getting involved in the various aspects of logistics. 

This reception comes in the wake of the summit level meeting which is to be held in September end between US President Barack Obama and Narendra Modi.

Modi, who was denied US visa after the 2002 Gujarat riots which claimed many lives, is now going to the US to discuss the India-US ties for the coming years. 

Apart from the meeting, Modi was also invited to address the US congress which got canceled on August 14. But in any case, the US ambassador Kathleen Stephens and Obama are looking forward to welcoming Narendra ModiStephens said that with the new government coming to India, she was hopeful that bilateral relations between India and US would be taken to a new level. "US can effectively help in India in re-energising its economy which will help in better job and economic growth," she said.​
