Delhi Police today said they have arrested a youth wing leader of the Samajwadi Party along with his aide for allegedly cheating people on the pretext of offering flats in residential projects, but the party denied having any links with him.

"Vinod Yadav, the general secretary of SP's youth wing was arrested along with his aide Sunil Nagar from Crossing Republic, Ghaziabad," said a senior police officer.

"Both of them had been declared proclaimed offenders by the Saket court last year and were wanted in two cases of cheating in southeast Delhi," the police officer said.

They had opened an office in DLF Tower A-715 by the name of Vinsun Build on Pvt LTD and Max Balaji group and were directors of this firm.

They allegedly cheated people on the pretext of offering flats and plots in residential projects in Greater Noida, he said.

Arjun Singh and 16 other people had filed a complaint with police, alleging that Vinod cheated them to the tune of Rs 45 lakh. Three other persons had alleged that they were duped of Rs 16 lakh by Sunil.

However, a senior party leader said Yadav was not an office bearer of any wing of the party.
