Soldiers mutilation: IAS officer, wife come forward to financially aid daughter of one of the martyrs

A Himachal Pradesh-based IAS officer, Yunus Khan, and his wife have come forward to extend financial support to the youngest daughter Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh, one of the soldiers who were mutilated along the Line of Control.

“Our soldiers guard us. They stand along the borders to protect our lives, and I have always felt that it’s our moral responsibility to stand by them in their hour of need,” said Khan while speaking to DNA.

Khan and his wife, Anjum Ara, a 2011 batch IPS officer who is currently posted as Superintendent of Police (SP), Solan talked to the family members of the martyr.

“We had a discussion with his brother and the family has welcomed our decision. We are willing to provide financial support to youngest daughter Khushdeep Kaur, 12, until she is financially independent in her life. We will bear all the expenses, right from her schooling, higher education and matrimony, as family agrees,”  Khan added.

The couple has a three years old son, but Khan says, his definition of family extends beyond the conventional terms. “As administrative officer, we come across several people who are in need of help and I think, it is my service that has enabled me to take this step for the family,” says Khan.

The couple is slated to visit Singh’s family in Tarn Taran district of Punjab on Saturday to execute the necessary formalities. While Khushdeep will continue to stay with her family, Khan says they will visit her from time to time.

Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh from 22 Sikh Infantry of Indian was martyred and his body mutilated by PoK troops when they targeted Indian patrol on Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district on May 1. He was survived by his wife, Paramjit Kaur and three children, including two daughters, Simardeep and Khushdeep and a son, Sahildeep.
